Chicken Tractors

Here are a couple of pictures of the chicken tractor we built. We can keep about 10 or so chickens and one rooster in it comfortably. They didn’t like it at first, but now they are pretty used to it. As a matter of fact one sneaked out while the door was open and spent the rest of the afternoon trying to figure out how to get back in.

The idea of a chicken tractor is that you can keep the chickens safe from predators (and off our porch!) while still allowing them to get good, fresh grass. We move the tractor 1-2 times a day. A big plus is that they are fertilizing our pasture for us!

Once we get another 2 or 3 of these built, we'll arrange them side by side and name it the "Whispering Pines Chicken Mobile Home Park".

This blog was a great idea. I bet a lot of families look back and realize they have not kept good records of their best memories. It's the everyday stuff that's so special... not just the vacation photo ops.
